The Océ ColorStream 3900 from Canon Solutions America (Booth 613) is the new top-speed model in the Océ ColorStream 3000 series, designed specifically for high-volume print providers. This device offers a process speed of 417 feet per minute, which translates to 857 A4 images and 909 letter-sized impressions per minute for a single unit, or to 1714 A4 impressions and 1818 letter-sized impressions per minute in a twin configuration. The Océ ColorStream 3900 enables print providers to achieve monthly volumes of up to 56 million A4 images or 59 million letter-sized images.
The Océ ColorStream 3900 boasts an impressive level of productivity due to the Tecnau Zero Speed Splicer u40, which automates roll changes. This reduces downtime and helps ensure the press continues to run at production speeds that maximize overall throughput and productivity. Traditional roll changes can cause downtimes approaching 15 minutes, which equates to the loss of up to 27,000 letter-size pages when running at production speed. The Tecnau Zero Speed Splicer u40 and the ability to print on the speed ramp inherent to the Océ ColorStream 3900 greatly reduces paper waste due to roll changes, drives production costs down and increases profitability.
Increasing the device’s flexibility to meet specific job requirements, the Océ ColorStream 3900 features two production modes. For print jobs with short production windows and tight cost constraints, the performance mode of the Océ ColorStream 3900 operates at 417 feet per minute and at 600 x 480 dpi resolution with multilevel dot modulation, producing excellent quality at top speed. For even higher quality requirements, the premium mode enables printing at 1200 dpi perceived image quality with 326 feet per minute, or 1350 A4 and 1,428 letter-sized impressions per minute.
Transactional applications, direct mail documents or short-run newspapers are often characterized by tight production windows and very high peak loads – making the Océ ColorStream 3900 a provider of valuable strengths and economic advantages. For cost-effective production, the performance mode facilitates ink savings.
