Agfa :Arkitex Portal

September 5, 2010

Agfa Graphics (Booths 844, 2611) is highlighting :Arkitex Portal, a web-browser based software tool involving printer and publisher in a collaborative process. The software was developed to address the trend of contract printing, and to enable newspapers to become more competitive in this arena.

The :Arkitex Portal allows printers to leverage this collaboration by offering value- added services like image optimization and page pre-flighting. This collaboration helps lower costs through process automation, such as on-line soft proofing replacing traditional hard-copy proofs. A flip-book proofing capability ensures uploaded pages are properly recognized and positioned within the printed product. Automation simplifies the publisher’s task by providing a simple and fast interface allowing them to quickly do their work.

The :Arkitex Portal works in tandem with :Arkitex Director to ensure that pre-production data is accurately translated into production data. Customers access :Arkitex Portal through a straight-forward, web-based user interface, and upload files that go through a sequence of pre-defined processing steps--either by the printer or publisher. This sequence of steps describes the workflow. Typical steps are publication planning, file uploading, distilling, preflighting, ripping, (soft) proofing, and approval. Every step is endowed with intelligence to ensure best possible results and productivity.
